Peter George Nyabwari - Technical Operations

“On completion of my studies, I applied for and was offered three different positions. I decided to choose the one at SimCorp due to the company’s good reputation in the market. I have never regretted this decision, as SimCorp is the kind of company, where you can really go far, if you give it all you have got.”

Peter George Nyabwari - Technical Operations, with SimCorp since January 2008

I work as a business consultant, heading the technical part of our education and self-study programme. When I was first hired by SimCorp, I started in the technical services department where my main responsibility was to ensure the continuous upgrade of our core course environment. My role has now been extended to include presales for prospects and already existing clients, and to maintain our third-party product installations.

I have an academic background within software development, and find that my education is very relevant for my role in SimCorp. However, I did find that there was a steep learning curve when I first started here, mainly because of the technical complexity of our product SimCorp Dimension. When I started in our department, I realised it was important to have sound analytical skills and some form of IT knowledge. Further, I did not have any financial knowledge when I started, so this represented also an area that I had to get acquainted with. Fortunately, I found people here to be very helpful, and I was able to learn a  lot from my colleagues, making the transition from study life to work life in SimCorp a lot easier.

What is the best thing about working with SimCorp?

I have a very varied work day, where I get to work with a lot of different colleagues at headquarters and in our subsidiaries. I enjoy the social network I have here, and it is great that we not only work together, but I also have the opportunity to hang out with my colleagues outside work -  for instance on our annual ski day trip to Isaberg or at other social events.

Why in your opinion do talented people choose to stay in SimCorp?

You receive a lot of challenges in SimCorp and at the same time have the empowerment and flexibility to plan your workday. This ensures that I always have a good balance between work and private life.

How do you experience the international element in your daily work life?

With the international atmosphere we have at SimCorp, you meet a lot of different kinds of people, which gives a more interesting work day. It also allows for the possibility to work abroad and to add that extra international dimension to one’s career.

What are your future career plans?

In the future I would like to become more specialised within Oracle and to work as a technical trouble shooter, solving various technical issues to make things work.
