Birgit - Receptionist
"I am impressed by all the bright and dedicated people who work here. These are people who I have a deep respect for in many different ways, and the fact that we are able to have fun together and meet in an informal atmosphere is really great. It feels a bit like family."
Birgit Østby Nielsen - Receptionist, with SimCorp since February 1999
I am a receptionist in SimCorp in Copenhagen and have been with SimCorp over 10 years. A couple of days a week I work in the finance department solving ad hoc tasks and manage utilities in the entire Copenhagen office.
I like having different types of tasks, and I have a varied workday. There is a lot of focus on the social aspect in the job – and when you are a social person like me that is really rewarding. I like to talk about other things than work, and given the fun and sociable environment I find that this is the case in SimCorp. I was actually told when I first started that management preferred it if we didn’t talk “work” at lunchtime and also that we didn’t sit in the same place and with the same colleagues, but used the lunch break as a chance to mingle and get to know each other. This was of course a lot easier back then, when we were no more than 200 employees in Denmark, but I somehow think it says a lot about our culture.
A multitude of social activities
I am a member of SimCorp's social club and attend the theatre and opera once in a while. I am also part of the art club, where we have the possibility to win works of art. We have a fitness room in the basement, which I am thinking of visiting on a regular basis, and then there is of course Flemmings Frikvarter, our personnel bar, where I sometimes meet with my colleagues for a drink and a chat.
An international company
Well over half my time, I speak English. All corporate activities are in English and many of my colleagues are English-speaking, so I get a feel for the international aspect in SimCorp every day – something that I find very positive.
