Andrea - Senior Business Consultant, Customer Services Central Europe
"As a university graduate in Physics you have a lot of possibilities because you are able to understand complex systems and contexts. However it is difficult to decide which door to enter. During my search for the right job I came across SimCorp. On an internet portal for physicists I saw a job offer for Business Consultants which was addressed to candidates with a background in Sciences and Economics. It took 3 weeks from my first interview with SimCorp until my first working day."
Andrea Fromlowitz - Senior Business Consultant, with SimCorp since April 2006
I am a senior business consultant and work in a team with six colleagues where I am responsible for the operational business of SimCorp Dimension at our insurance customers in production. I advise and support our customers and answer their questions in connection with SimCorp Dimension where a lot of financial mathematics comes in. It is always a challenge to find an individual solution since our software is complex and each customer can set individual parameters.
Is your education being used in SimCorp?
I am often asked about the connection of my actual work with my studies of Physics. I hardly need any knowledge from my studies although a lot of principles in nature are valid for the financial market as well. But my competence to deal with problems and to recognize logical combinations is absolutely helpful.
Did you find it difficult to start working for SimCorp?
During the 2 month's introduction program I built up the know-how about the software. The introduction program consists of 3 weeks system training in the parent company in Copenhagen and 5 weeks time to become familiar with the system. An experienced colleague coached me during the induction period. All through the introduction I felt very welcome and enjoy the company culture which is very influenced by the Danish roots.
How has your career development been?
After the introduction program I accompanied colleagues along to customer visits. After half a year I took over the operational account management for one customer. This includes all steering and planning tasks in the operational area such as the planning of on-site consulting or small projects. Last year I had the possibility to take part in an internal job rotation to Implementation Services. For three months I supported the project team in the final phase of the implementation and installed an interface to an external data provider.
What are your plans for the future?
In the future I would like to improve my risk management know how - and as an expert in this area I want to support my colleagues in projects.
